Fire Service Data Model

I realize that this is a late post but I wanted to share about the Fire Service Data Model group with a data model committee meeting last March. First of all it is exciting to get together with fellow fire department people to discuss the value of GIS in the Fire Service. Some important things came out

  • It was recognized the value of GIS in several functions within the fire service. This includes inspections and preplanning, emergency response, and standards of cover or statistical analysis
  • GIS needs to get to the task level.
  • GIS needs to get simplified for the end user.
